Simple Steps to A Glowing Skin
Desiring glowing skin is quite a thing for the women-folk. The confidence it would bring and the beauty essence of glowing skin would make them go to great lengths to achieve it.
Beautiful, glowing skin is a reflection of good health. It has a smooth texture and hence, is able to reflect light and give you a glow. This can be achieved with the right lifestyle practices and skincare habits like layering your skin beginning with the lightest product and ending with the thickest, and not forgetting to remove all your make-up before you doze off at the end of the day.
Luisa Fanzani, skincare formulator and brand owner shares her own ideas on how to get your skin to glow;
-
Clean Your Face: You must clean your skin in the morning and after doing outdoor activities such as exercising. A good cleanser should not contain harsh ingredients (surfactants) such as sodium lauryl sulfate (okay for the body but too harsh for the face).
-
Hydrate: In order to create a youthful appearance, you must keep your skin hydrated. Skin that lacks moisture looks dull with fine lines very visible. The way you hydrate depends on your skin type; apart from water, moisturizers are ideal for dry and normal skin. If you have oily skin, go for something water-based.
-
Use Chemical Exfoliant: There are many misconceptions when it comes to chemical exfoliation. When used in moderation, it is actually a great way to give your face a fresh appearance. The process removes the skin’s outer layer of dead cells so its surface is smoother and clearer. Dr. Harish Koutam, Chief Dermatologist at SkinKraft agrees with Fanzani saying that “Chemical exfoliants break the bonds between keratinocytes (the most dominant cells type making up the epidermis) and help in reducing keratinocyte buildup. This leads to reducing melanin build-up thereby giving you glowing skin.”
-
Look for Brightening Skincare Ingredients: Like Vitamin C, and Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide). The effects can be visible within a few weeks, with great results in about three months.
-
Do Not Forget the Sunscreen: When it comes to your skin, prevention is what matters the most. Using sunscreen helps to fade out hyper-pigmentation much faster causing your skin to look smooth and even.
Luisa advises that you always pick fragrance-free skincare products if you can because fragrances are an irritant to the skin
